What is digital printing and what can it print?
As a local London business we are proud to have three onsite digital printing machines enabling us to deliver enviable turnaround times to our clients ensuring that those impossible deadlines can be met! In addition to our digital printing machine we can also offer litho printing. If you're wondering what is digital printing, then we explain more within our website.
Digital and litho printing are two completely different printing methods, each possessing their own strengths whether you are looking for Letterhead Printing, Flyer Printing or Poster Printing to name but a few. However, if you are looking for high quality Prospectus Printing or that all important Annual Report Printing then knowing the difference between the two types is particularly useful.
Digital printing essentially uses laser printers similar to those that can be found in most office situations, but much larger. They use toner to print and a heat method to fuse the toner to the print material. This offers the ability to print onto thicker paper/card and enables interesting effects to be created when printing onto textured paper, great for Greetings & Postcard Printing.
If you're in need of a digital printer UK, look no further than Brightside!
The cost of litho printing is mostly the setup time
Litho printing is a more traditional printing method and involves using printing plates. In this process liquid ink is used that is applied to the plates offering additional options of printing using spot colours, metallics and specific company related Pantone references. It can also be used on a wider variety of paper weights making it a perfect choice for Brochure Printing creating a touch of class and differentiation to your brand.
The litho vs digital printing comparison debate . .
As technology advances the gap between digital and litho narrows, but it is generally accepted within the printing industry that litho is a higher quality print solution offering a more glossy finish which is ideal for Folder Printing. Especially when printing full colour!
When it comes to speed of production, it is much quicker for print to be produced using digital printing as there is no set up required. A PDF can be placed into the computer and off we go, perfect for Newsletter Printing, Notepad Printing and Business Card Printing where a fast turnaround is often required.
Litho can take a bit longer as the plates need to be made and the printer set up. However once the printing starts litho machines are quicker than digital machines and therefore if you have a high volume print order of leaflets, prospectuses or posters this could be a more cost effective option in the long run as the cost per sheet is cheaper than digital and is also faster.
We also offer a variety of Print Finishing including laminate, matt, spot UV varnish and binding options to provide that finishing touch to make your literature stand out from the crowd.
